Advancing Renal Care: Canagliflozin in the Treatment of CKD | Khaled Osama Yaseen

I am proud to share my recent participation in the 11th Student Scientific Research Conference at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mansoura University. This event was an incredible opportunity to present critical research on a transformative therapy in clinical pharmacy: the use of Canagliflozin for patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).

The Scientific Focus: Canagliflozin and Renal Health

My presentation delved into the clinical data and pharmacological impact of Sodium-Glucose Cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, specifically Canagliflozin.

  • Breaking Down the Data: I presented key findings from landmark clinical trials, emphasizing how participants were randomized to evaluate the drug's efficacy in slowing the progression of renal decline.

  • Mechanism of Action: We explored how Canagliflozin works beyond glucose control to provide significant renal protection, offering a "treasure" of hope for patients at risk of end-stage kidney disease.

  • Clinical Significance: This topic builds upon my previous academic sessions regarding the objectives of CKD management, transitioning from general symptoms and causes to specific, high-level pharmaceutical interventions.

A Journey of Continuous Research

Participating in the 11th edition of this conference is a testament to the thriving scientific community at Mansoura University.

  • Exceptional Aptitude: This presentation aligns with my recent recognition in the EPSF Potentials program, where I was cited for "Exceptional Aptitude" in my Level 3 Clinical studies.

  • Pioneering Wellness: Just as the [Ph]ocus Project taught us to "build wellness rather than treat disease," researching therapies like Canagliflozin allows us to intervene early and effectively in the patient's journey.

Impact Through Information

As I have shared in the past, the most meaningful part of these sessions is leaving behind information that people can remember and use. Whether it is a tactical strategy in a chess championship or the structural motifs in phytochemistry, the goal is always to push for a "better" and more informed future.
